Go Down Moses and Other Stories
New York: Random House, 1942. Hardcover. 8vo., 383 pp. Stated first edition in publisher's original black cloth lettered in gilt and lined in red on the spine and upper cover and with red top stain. In a first state price-clipped pictorial dustjacket with eight [8] titles on the rear panel. Faulkner's sixth book of stories which, besides the title tale, includes 'Was' and the short fiction classic 'The Bear.' It is worth noting that in later editions the words, 'And other Stories' were omitted from the title. Very Good, tight and square with some light age-toning to the front pastedown and endpaper and a few light stains on the foredge and bottom right hand corner of the text block. In a first state dust jacket that has a tiny bit of edgewear to the extremities and staining to the rear top corner and rear flap fold. Overall a decent, sound copy priced accordingly.
