The Magma Copper Company, established in 1910 near Superior, Arizona, had a significant impact on the mining industry, particularly in Arizona. The company played a major role in copper production, especially after the discovery of a large copper reef beneath silver deposits at the Magma Mine. They expanded operations, including constructing a smelter in 1924, and eventually acquired the San Manuel mining claims in 1944.
